First baseball of the season

Tonight was Brendan's first official game. Since the REAL official game was canceled due to the snow storm we had last week. The weather tonight was perfect. This year they get to play on the dirt. Fun, right? The kids couldn't get enough of kicking up the dust all game long. He's on machine pitch this year- which is just glorified T-Ball. Brendan did hit the ball both times up to bat from the machine. First hit/first pitch. Second hit/second pitch.

Little kids are just too cute. I swear some of them look like they are three years old. They had Brendan play second base tonight- which is to say they had Brendan stand next to the second base bag. They give the boys a position so not everyone runs after the ball at the same time like they did in T-Ball. However, as the night grew on, the boys got restless and there were a few pile-ups. As another pastime the boys were kicking the dirt back and forth at each other. Finally, kicking it was just boring so the other kid thought it was a great idea to pick up the dirt and throw it at Brendan's face. Crying ensued. We are definitely going to have to go over 'outfield etiquette' with these guys.
